Inkscape Taper Tutorial: using Pattern Along Path

Came across this tool the other day and thought I would share it as I find it very useful to get consistent strokes and clean tapers while still having only a single path that is easily edited.

Thank you for this. I've got an updated version of Inkscape, the the basics are the same and it allowed me to figure out how to do my line work right. Before I simply corrected the improper lines by hand.

Ugh I can't get this to work. Maybe I'm doing it wrong? I can't get the little green box you edit with to appear.

When I use this it tapers to any cusp node that makes an abrupt corner, like the tip of the bottom lip on any drawing where the pony's mouth is open. Any ideas on how to stop that from happening, or work-arounds for drawing mouths?

Thank you for this one. This will save me literally hours in the future as I have been converting all my strokes to path before adjusting them, and then making changes has been a nightmare. I am still a bit new to Inkscape and vectors in general so I am glad for this tip.

Now if there was a tutorial on jow to draw zebra stripes easily... ;P

This is a problem with this tool. It is one of the reasons I have switched to using powerstrokes which do not do this despite that I think pattern along path can get you better tapers
