I have been making this basic recipe for well over 50 yrs in the early years I cut out the butter it doesn't need it and I top it with crushed potato chips. I don't like instant style rice so I precooked long grain rice about half cooked. It was my first casserole recipe out of a magazine as a newly Wed 57 yrs. Ago.
