The phrase flying car suggests it’s something that you can drive down the road which which I could not imagine it would ever be

Finally something USA is leading in. Number of VTOL companies. Something we can be proud about as americans. We need wins like this pushing forward with advancing tech.

It’s not a car if you can’t drive it on a road, It’s just an ultralight.

These "flying cars" are not a bet, they are a boondoggle. Jetson has collected a lot of deposits and payments. Their first run of 300 units was sold out, and were supposed to be delivered in 2023. So far not a single one has been delivered.

Until these things (what we call them aside) see prices going down and ranges going up they will never be anything but a rich person's plaything

Well researched, thorough overview.

What failsafes do these things have? Parachutes? Inflatable air bags?

Helicopters and drones seem so helpless when things go wrong. I’ve seen that some quadcopters can control a spin and descend with a failed motor.

Its not design holding back the flying car. It's people. We can't have human error flying over neighborhoods. When they're automated we'll have something.

In other words, helicopters. Most of these don’t even have wheels.

People can barely drive, now, imagine piloting.

If it is cheap, sure. $50–75 sounds okay.

It seems like a quieter version of a helicopter
I think it's almost 1:1 a helicopter, so the certification and laws around it can probably be somewhat similar
