I heard of some guy who graduated in Egyptology, but couldn’t find a job. So he spent even more money to get a PhD in Egyptology, so he could instead get a job teaching it to other people.

The pyramid scheme is finally collapsing.

Student loans are the ultimate plot twist where you pay more for a degree than you’ll ever earn with it.

If the only viable career path for your degree is teaching that subject, you’ve been suckered into a pyramid scheme.

The fact that universities are failing is a clear indication that students no longer see the value in the outdated system that leaves them with pile of debt and no guaranteed job prospects. The crisis in higher education is a serious issue that needs more awareness and discussion.

Problem is our career paths aren’t direct enough. High school becomes a waste of time. Most of college is a waste. This is coming from a doctor. We need to restructure the system to allow young people to attain their career more efficiently.

These new arts degrees are reminding me of how ridiculous the astrology cult sounds.
“I have a bachelor’s in the arts of perplexity in the genders of interplanetary sexuality” is starting to sound too similar to “I’m an asparagus and my zodiac told me to cheat on you”

They'll give you 100, 000 for student loans but won't give you 20, 000 to start a business.

I noticed that Millennial’s parents were all about insisting their kids just get a degree in something. When I would ask about cost-benefit analysis (would the degree pay for itself) I was treated as if I was putting them down, financially. It hurt their pride. And then their kids did what they were admonished to do, and ended up in horrendous debt. Because they, in fact, couldn’t afford it. Such delusion.

Higher education is important- degrees are pointless unless it’s for a specific thing to master.

I’m studying to become an elementary teacher, and the majority of the courses I have to take have nothing to do with teaching or how to deal with students. How am I supposed to apply the 4 diversity courses when a child is throwing a desk at me?
Higher education is losing its value and credibility. It sucks to waste time and money on a degree that won’t get you anywhere 🤷🏽‍♀️

A friend of mine told me that her stepson was going to diesel mechanics school instead of college. I congratulated her and told her that she raised him well and he’s making a great choice.

12:31. Pay $95, 000.00 a year for four years and get a worthless piece a paper. SOUNDS LIKE A SCAM TO

When I was in HS. I was constantly asked "What I wanted to major in." The question needs to be "How are you going to make money?"

Just an idea i thought of,
What if colleges were partnered with all local businesses and had a set amount of a degree they could give of a type at a time, based on what is needed in the local area. Then when a student enrolls, they are guarenteed a position with the company sponsoring the degree and should they pass the degree plan be maybe placed on a contract. At least in my head, it could streamline things better and people wont have to deal with stupid resumes because the company would have thier eyes on you from the start.

Why does no one blame the colleges themselves for price gouging and collusion and offering degrees in subjects they know can’t make money? We blame the “loan debt” but not the cause?

It's pretty simple: When a saw mill runs out of trees, it shuts down. When a diploma mill runs out of suckers, same thing.
