5 reasons to buy IKEA kitchen cabinets

Why do you use IKEA kitchen cabinets? Are IKEA kitchens worth it? Are IKEA cabinets any good? These are some of the most commonly asked questions I receive. The truth is when you dig into the RTA (ready to assemble) cabinetry options available, IKEA kitchen cabinets really are head and shoulders above the rest.

Even though this isn't a construction video, these are my commonly used tools (Affiliate links):

I’ve been binging on your videos. Thanks for each one! I’ve saved several so far for points I shouldn’t forget.

I may have the farmhouse sink answer you posed in the trends to avoid video. It was a great video btw w/exception of ss sinks. FH sinks are more European history than USA. They were once called Belfast sinks indicating Ireland but are widely seen in ancient as well as modern UK homes. Their width depended on home size thus wealth; many could not afford their porcelain bulk meaning they were not universal. Those seen were not nearly as large as favored today but wealthy my family were/are not. According to AirBnB photos and limited experience FHS were/are popular in Europe too.

From experience living in UK with one large sink bowl for the first time; 2 bowls are much much preferable. With a large one bowl sink one needs extra bowls to wash and rinse dishes to avoid wasting water. Sink-top dish racks, sink-top colanders, sink floor anti-scratch racks, sink-top cutting boards - some or all will be needed because buyers lost counter space by choosing the single bowl huge sink. IMO it was an expensive, fiddly decision requiring much more under sink storage space. Mine was black granite which I loved but one large bowl—Never ever again. I have already purchased my next sink. A black granite by same maker

I lived in Highland Scotland post USA retirement in the 250y/o stone home my grt grandparents rented up to the 1930s. I am 78y/o with an increasingly disabling disease but can still entertain a few friends fairly frequently to occasional family dinners up a dozen. As before, I bought this home as a fixer before learning why I was losing strength and mobility. It’s time I redid this 1970s kitchen for my comfort and for fast resale for the kids in a few years. Given your videos, my limited budget and future, an Ikea is my best kitchen reno bet. But questions flood my mind. May I please ask for your input?
What are your experiences and thoughts on:
1) Ikea brand countertops? Granite and Quartz appeal.
2) Do Ikea’s counter suppliers vary by locale so that their counters could vary in quality? Does the location of the store matter?
2)Ikea faucets? Do they have more or fewer problems than Home Depot, Lowe’s brands?
3) bath sinks. I haven’t visited a store recently but aren’t their bowls sort of shallow?
4) The last I knew their kitchen gray doors were much darker gray than the bathroom gray doors thus too dark for my kitchen. The bathroom gray was perfect tho. A salesperson said this might change in future suggesting other prospective needed lighter gray too. Does Ikea now have kitchens in their bathroom gray?
Thanks in advance for your help. Even if you don’t - I’ve still learned from a dozen or more of your videos!

Thanks for the informative videos all the time. Do everybody a favour please, and drop the background noise (aka "music"; not because I hate that music, which I do, but because it drowns out your voice)...

How viable is the IKEA route if you don't have a local IKEA store? I'm loving this idea but the nearest IKEA is 6 hours away. Between delivery costs and online vs in-store decision making, I'm wondering if the savings in money/energy/sanity over custom cabinetry is worth it.

What is the door name of that cabinet in the video?

Does Ikea offer home installation for the entire kitchen? I don't know the first thing about renovating a kitchen. Can I hire a pro to build my kitchen using strictly Ikea products?

I bought a non-IKEA RTA night table for my daughter, but the design quality was not okay. It's wonky.
