Bohnanza QUICK Review

Bohnanza, Uwe Rosenberg’s first card game, is a trading and negotiation tabletop game under 45 minutes! Players perform hand management while trying to get the most money through set collections of bean cards on 2 slots in their paper mats. This 25th anniversary edition includes the magpie variant, a coin variant, and the classic cocoa/wax/coffee. The mandatory hand plant rules and huge benefits from trading require everyone to keep wheeling and dealing, so become the wealthiest bean farmer! There’s also no cardboard chits and tokens, it’s all cards for simple, streamlined gameplay with minimal downtime.

One of my childhood games. It was quiet popular 20 years ago in Germany :D
I do think about it from time to time. Glad you liked it.

This should definitely be a series / format we see more often, inbetween things like the upcoming 3 hour frosthaven review

Possibly Rosenburgs best game.

As for the player matts...toss em! We never needed them for years, weird to see them.

Finally, the replayability is from player interaction and less from setup/varients. Don't let that "con" scare you off to this great game.

Love the short format! Y'all have awesome insights and comments so I'm sure it's hard to edit it down to this sized morsel but it's great!

I played Bonanza a lot, when I was much younger. We always only played 2 deck cycles and I thought that was the rules back then. Also getting the 3rd field was different, because you could only buy it for 3$. Even though I agree, that it is a great game, especially for its money, I would not play it anymore. For me big games are just much more enjoying and instead of a lighter filler game, our group enjoys to just chat. Still I would recommend it to everyone who has even a mild interest to try this game

I'm a big fan of negotiation and you clearly nail the pros and cons of that game. Super well done. I would love you to make a video on John Company 2nd edition! You have such a great style and in that game, there is lot of trading, but not only, so you might like it ;)

This is also a great game to play with kids! It's one of the most popular games at the school I work.

The rules are simple, the pictures are cool and the trading is simple enough.

What is the deep sea game (blue box) in your stack at the end?

Title looks like Deep Sea Adventure, but too big of box to be the Oink game of the same name.

Have you guys played any of the Oink games? I've been shopping for quick, light games with small footprints (like Bohnanza) and Oink has so many that fit that description and look great. Looking at Startups, Maskmen, Fake Artist and Scout. Have you played any of those?

Field beans aren't in the deck I have, so we just spend 3 coins to buy the 3rd field

I really like this game and we play it regularly but I sincerely believe that the artwork looks horrible. The style of the cartoon is not really to my liking but hey, each to their own. I will still play this.
