Little hack I've started doing for planning. I start a shared google maps list with places that we researched ahead of time. All the people in my party can view and edit the list and check out reviews and what not. Then when we are at our destination, when we wanna get a bite to eat or a drink or something we open google maps and the pre-saved places are highlighted on the map.

This is only a detail but let me just mention how I appreciate that all of your videos have the same cohesive feeling and also that they’re always practical, so that I can use them here in Switzerland for small adventures. Keep it going Josh!

The only thing I overpack is underwear. I always have the feeling that I’m going to poop my pants or that I’m going to need the extra underwear but thankfully it never happens haha

My mistake was not taking extra days worth of my prescriptions. My flight from Florida back to Michigan this past winter was canceled due to a snow storm, I ended up staying five extra days. I found out you can not go to the pharmacy and get five days worth unless you pay out of pocket.

I will never be able to do this small of packing, since I'm an anxious bean. But I've been watching these types of videos for eons and each time I've traveled I've been able to travel lighter. My most recent trip (to see my parents) i took a carryon plus laptop bag and the carryon was mostly just filled with laundry (to do there for free lol). My biggest mistake is bringing extra bags or purses- i literally never use the extras and they take up so much room! I have one little crossbody day bag that's perfect in combination with my wallet-clutch-thing, and it's been working great since i discovered that combo.

One of the best tips (as mentioned) is that most "maybe" items are easy to buy if/when necessary at the destination.

I wear prescription lenses, on my trip to Sikkim I accidentally broke the pair, those were a rough couple of days. This was before the Pandemic. I now think I'll carry a back up pair.

To me, the best way to plan after years is planing complete days that you can move, if you are too tired, use a chill day, if you are cool, go to one that needs more walking, so you can adapt on the go. (Sone days need to be locked for museums, etc.)

I'm the opposite of over documenting, I quite often forget to take pictures. I dont mind, my family does sometimes 🤣

Bringing too much stuff to read and feel guily because I dont read all of them and because it take space.

Bringing items for my fantasy self.

Bringing to much new or unused stuff and ending up not using them/feeling weird using them.

Not bringing enough stuff to “buy it there, wash and reuse it etc.”, and ending up with regret.

I can honestly say I've never packed too LIGHT, only too heavy. (I use 1 27L carry on for all non snowboarding trips).

If working especially take a hot water bottle and a warm sweater. There is no more miserable place than a cold hotel room at 9:30 when you have done your call home and there is nothing to do but TV or more work! Warmth equals hope!

I travel less light than this for day trips bc cronic pain/illness and sensory issues loll, these are the things that I need .
fidget toy story, ted, noise cancelling headphones (don't count normally I'm wearing them), spare headphones, ear plugs, wierd, pain management, small sketch book, pen, phone, power bank, cables, wallet, walking stick (I'm trying to find a telescopic one haven't yet), braces for wrists & knees & fingers, wolly hat, fan,
If I'm staying the night I have to take my actual meds

I spent a lot time with the theory of one bag travel but in practice never felt mastering it. :(

Don’t go to crazy with gimmicky “travel essentials”. If you buy to many of these items that you just end up with more stuff, completely defeating the purpose of these items. Stick with minimal organizers, and sensible multi purpose items, and only if you’ll use them enough to justify bringing them with you. Also, when going somewhere that rain boots are a must, opt for rain boot shoe covers to save space and double as shoe bags inside your bag if you’re taking more then one pair.

My biggest hurdle is always to bring camera gear or not. Do I bring my canon and extra lense with my go pro or do I just use my cellphone? Despite the difference in pic quality is it worth it? I find myself using my canon more closer to home and when I fly I rely on my cell. However when relying on my cell I find myself wishing I had my canon for a handful of opps. I am not a photographer or any sort of professional with a camera, just like better pics of my travel. I’ve already been able to eliminate a computer, do I eliminate the camera too? Phone/GoPro is def the most minimal. First world problems I guess.

1. Packing too light.
2. Over packing.
3. Over-documenting.
4. Not researching/planning.
5. Over .. planning. :/

Don't pack too light, but don't pack too much. Make sure you plan, but not too much lol

5. How about ... Don't take things too seriously.

Mistakes of 1 bag travel: visiting family.

It is IMPOSSIBLE to visit family with 1 bag (or is that just MY family?)
They want you to bring stuff with you and then they fill up your bags with more stuff. (I remember 1 time, I thought I was being so smart - I did a carry-on for my stuff then stuffed a collapsible duffel with the stuff for family; my plan was to just do carry-on on the way home. Needless to say THAT didn't happen)

Recent subscriber, loving the vibe of your channel
Definitely agree with the over-documenting
Some people just wanna show they're having a good time instead of having one
