It's like one of Benjamin Franklin's famous quotes "those who trade freedom's for security, deserve neither freedom nor security "

Our response to 9/11 with wanting safety over liberty is the direct cause of our authoritarian state.

In Germany we have the same bullshit security at every airport, yet you can board a high speed train without *any* security checks whatsoever. Square that.

Security theater is a significant part. It's not all in the name of actual security.

The best, and most successful, kind of infringement is one that isn't seen as one.

Last spring, I was traveling from Montreal to the Magdalens and back. I was first searched in Quebec city and that pissed me off, I mean, this was an internal flight within Quebec but on my way back it got worse as the federal government has now installed a "security" facility at the minuscule airport and everybody, EVERYBODY was searched in the so-called name of safety. As a Canadian and a Quebecer, I was outraged, fuming. Most poeple sat there like sheep, removing their belts, emptying their pockets as though they were guilty of some crime. This is BAD news, I tell you.

Not me! I haven't flown commercial since 9/11. I used to fly several times a year, but now if you say the wrong thing when an employee acts like an ass, same said employee can scream "Victim" & next thing you know you're getting your ass kicked and at the very least find yourself on a "No Fly List". It's ridiculous. If they told people to pull down their pants and bend over so they can make sure you're not keistering something, people would do it without question. Not me, I'm not claiming to be smarter, or better than anyone else, & I have nothing to hide, but I absolutely refuse to be treated like livestock without taking a stand.

I agree that domestic flights should have much more relaxed security, but there should still be some security. Like any area where large amounts of people gather(schools, malls, churches, etc), there needs to be security measures that aren't invasive but are still vigilant.

International flights require a much higher degree of security, unless you also think we should also leave the borders open 😅

I have felt this same way!! We are like robots at the airports. They made my 90 yr old dad remove his belt that was holding up his pants! Be reasonable! There was ONE shoe bomb attempt that was thwarted.I have had friends being separated from belongings only to find $1400. Missing…and a friend examined to the point she won’t discuss it. I always thought the TSA should have employed veterans.

I agree! I experience the practice of using the phrase "I do not consistent", since 9/11 myself. I was respectfully questioning & experienced delays in travel but, enjoyed BEING an example of my value of freedom. I would love to see all of us peacefully stand together, for freedom.♥️🙏🕊️

This is absolutely correct and I 100% agree (I will continue to meekly take my shoes and belt off at the airport TSA checkpoint)

Those who would give up essential liberty, to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither safety nor liberty.

Denver has a multilevel airport where you can look down on the lines of people waiting to be screened. Form several stories up i looked down and yelled:
'Land of the free, home of the brave, we are neither!"
It's just infurating.

I read somewhere that airport security does not pick up 95% of contraband on flights. It is all theatre.

He basically just described public Schools. Where you are taught to obey.

In threat assessment there are two types:
1. Actual Threats.
2. Perceived Threats.

Actual Threats are very few and far between.

Perceived Threats are many.

Use "school shootings" as an example. The odds that any one school is at risk is very low. The Perceived Threat is high because of media attention and no one wants their child injured or killed.

So we are willing to increase funding for security of children that are at a low risk of being attacked.

Would that funding be better spent on mental health screening and treatment?

The public also wants immediate action when the parameters are not well understood or defined.

A lot of us were SCREECHING about the Patriot Act and the effects we will see on society. Now no one even knows that's a thing.

Also, no one ever smuggled something onto a plane in their shoes to attack someone on a flight. Ironically people have been attacked using just a shoe.

It’s so much more insidious than this: Consider every lethal mistake a poorly trained police officer makes as the example for what will happen to you if you don’t OBEY!
