This was such a great cutscene to finish off the campaign. I have half-expecting it to be programmed to crash D2 after the cut to black.

Pay close attention to the beginning of this scene and you will see that The Witness is a collector of races, enemy and ally alike. They are his collection of "Final Shapes" from their own universe. His eternal, time frozen champions, if you will. His powers seem very closely tied to time manipulation and gravitational forces.

As someone who has read pretty much every piece of lore there is in the game.
It would seem the flower game is coming to an end

this is going to sound weird but i think the “pale heart holds the key” line implies this is essentially like, a cosmic game of capture the flag. the winnower and the gardener are just “playing” like they have for eternity, in this iteration of the universe they’re allowed to intervene and spread their “philosophy”; the darkness reducing everything to a final shape and cornering the last traveler would be a end game scenario, which is why the witness talks so much in chess metaphors. this kind of has disturbing implications; the darkness and the light will persist for eternity irrespective of what happens in this conflict, it’s literally just a simulation to settle a wager between what are basically two gods. that means all of humanity etc. is just a transient piece on a board, and kind of makes everything else (red war, fallen) seems trivial

my theory is that I think the traveler also has some sort of creature that controls it or could be even inside of it just like this one for the pyramids i definitely don’t think the traveler is just that white sphere that we’ve seen for all this time !

I finished the campaign at 1am ish est last night and after seeing this late at night really REALLY messed me up
