Sebastian Sellares makes a welcome return to Antrim's Or Two Strangers with 'Reaching Kairos'. Having made his label debut in March of 2019 with ‘Epiphany In The Woods', the Argentinean artist also lays claim to releases on Proton Music and UV. Now presenting his first original project of 2020, the Cordoba resident lands back on Or Two Strangers with a three-track artist showcase.
Beginning with the title cut Sebastian explores the melodious, peak time side of his studio repertoire. Free and flowing from the outset it’s buzzing low end is robust, providing momentous drive while clattering percussion and lively arps fill in the framework. As the first act evolves smooth chord changes add emotive qualities to the narrative, before a hopeful overlay initiates the main break. Short and well crafted, the centrepiece continues to elevate mood through rising atmospheres and percussive modulation, before eventually peaking with a euphoric drop that's sure to light up your dance floor.
Continuing on a similar sonic plane is the second selection 'Far From Home'. Pacey and hopeful like its predecessor, there is a deeper emotion emanating from this one. A warm, redolent groove sits at the foundation, moving with rolling undulation as layers of drums and aquatic effects converge for a buoyant cadence. Elegant atmospheres rise across the first movement, flowing beautifully into an emotive centrepiece, as heartfelt chord stabs and poignant tones unite for a smooth yet exhilarating finale.
Rounding out the release are the deeper, hypnotic qualities of ‘Room 09’. Sebastian's distinctive flow and percussive cadence shine once again as warm beats, exotic drums and indistinct vocals unite for a smooth rhythmic ride. Leading into the main break, cascading melodies marry emotive chord changes, before melting down to an impassioned interlude and radiant finale. It rounds out an inspired collection of music from Sebastian, who returns to Antrim's Or Two Strangers with some of his strongest material to date.
