Is Bloodworth your actual surname or is it an alias? If it is then that is a badass surname

If I designed racing games I would definitely ask Bloodworth to take a look at it early on and let me know what he thinks.

Great job Blood. I share a lot of the same critics. One thing I'd like to highlight a little more, is just how well I feel the stages themselves are designed. For me personally, this was the biggest let down in Dirt 4. Their stage generator never felt like it had enough variation, and stages felt less challenging overall. DR 2.0 gets back to the level of design that we saw in the first DR imo, and stages remain as challenging to get through for the 20th time, as they do the 1st time.

This won't apply to everyone, but I also can't stress how great this game feels with a wheel. I think it may be their best work in that regard. The handling, and the level of feedback you receive though the wheel is on point. That said some people are having issues the the force feedback not working correctly (feeling ultra light) on PC at the moment.

Ford escort M 2. Can see why it has legendary statice in the world of rallying. Loved wheeling it in DR1 and they’ve made something great even better in Dirt Rally 2.0.

Absolutely amazed at how good this was covered. Bloodworth is a great understanding of games and systems. Plus, racing games don't often get such in-depth review as often.

As a lover of racing games but not in any way a pro driver in those games this one seems more like having a second job than having fun.

Not my genre but I never pass up a review written by Blood and Edited by Jones - you know you're in for a treat of music track choices and edits.

7:10 "Without Co-Driver voice in your ear", Your Co-Driver has effectively fainted from your extreme driving style...

I have found a work around for the audio cutout issue on PC. If you change your output device by clicking the speaker icon in the bottom rh corner of the desktop and then change it back it will work again. Also not mentioned in the review is that you can't play the career mode without an internet connection. It wouldn't be a huge issue if racenet didn't suck but every screen in career mode waits for a response from racenet before you can proceed.

Great review Blood! I agree with practically all of it, and I also experienced the same graphics flickering issues on my Xbox One X. Also there was some horizontal screen tearing, which happened especially with night stages in the rain. But the overall feel of the game is just superb and it's very playable on a controller provided one fiddles around with the stability assist on the more busy RWD vehicles. I have a couple of cons that irk me beyond what was pointed out here with the game :

The Rally Cross events in the career mode (not the championship in the freeplay but the career mode with the open, clubman etc difficulties) has some pretty cheaty AI with the times they post. In that let's say that you win your heat with a time of 3 min 50 seconds. But the AI of the _other _ simulated heats post times like 3 min 35 seconds. Which would be fine, but when those supposedly minus 15 second drivers eventually race against you physically in that same event, they suddenly lose all confidence and are not able to actually put up the times they supposedly put up offscreen and drive times like 3 min 55 seconds. So you can win your own heat but may be left to like 12th or so place due to those cheaty AI times. That diminishes the victories you get and you can be left out of the semi finals by some VERY suspect AI times that the AI clearly isn't capable of physically driving.

I'm also not a big fan of how expensive everything is in relation to how much credits one gets. The car prices are one thing but especially the newer cars have huge costs to their upgrades and Freeplay racing doesn't give you any credits. Also in the first Dirt Rally you could setup a custom championship with as many or few stages and areas as you want and choose the difficulty and get an approriate amount of credits in relation to how big the event is. Here in Dirt Rally 2.0 you can still set up custom championships but do not get any credits out of them. This all smells of an economy that is trying to annoy you to buy that Deluxe Edition with those Deluxe events with their deluxe credit rewards.

And a tiny thing : in Dirt 4 you could choose a female voice as your co-driver and I really miss that here. That voice was much easier to make out from the roaring engine noises. Here that option is gone.
