Welcome to our brand new series on colloquial English where we're looking at common phrases and expressions we use when we're speaking.

These spoken language phrases are used in everyday typical situations by native English speakers. You can use them in casual, daily situations when you meet friends on the street. Use this online video to practise fluency and improve your level. You’ll learn how to speak English naturally.

The best way to learn them is to see them in action. That way you can see when it's appropriate to use the phrases and they become more memorable.

Using colloquial phrases will help your English sound more natural and conversational. In this video we're looking at these ones:
That's a pity/What a pity
That's a shame
That's a bit much
Who's counting?
Search me
How should I know?

Watching your video is a way of getting a life because it is funny as well.
What a pity for the dislikers. It is a bit much, but who's counting?
I'll be all set for the next video of this series that I like so much.
You have a propensity for knocking 'em dead as always.
There are lots of colloquial words in English, break a leg!

Where I live, (American English), we use "it's a bit much" as well, but with a slightly different meaning. It wouldn't make much sense to use it in the scenario shown in the video, but we'd use it with a more literal sense: to say that someone went a little too far with something.
It's always a joy watching your videos, because I usually learn something new even though English is my native language :)
