I, too, would run like the wind if I were Deok-sun (Lee Hye-ri). But then again, I wouldn't dare take Bo-ra's (Ryu Hye-young) denim jacket without permission in the first place. Watch Reply 1988, now back on Netflix!

Bora character was so real she was pampered, good in studies, first child that's why her parents endured all her tantrums.i have seen people like her all the time.

Though in the beginning, BoRa had one of the worst characters, but by the end, it showed how she was the one who actually cared for everyone. She had one of those characters where they say, "Action speaks louder than words."
her actions prove how she cared for them all, although she couldn't bring herself to express it.
Though I didn't like how rude she was at the beginning, later her scenes with her dad, bought me to tears the most.

Always love and fun seeing the conflict between these sisters. But it still sad to see the elder sibling always bullies the younger one.

I watched this series several times. And I don't believe that BoRa has the worst character here. Sung family situation were explained in so many ways, even Sung DongIl (father) explained why Bora grew up like that and alot didn't remember why IlHwa (mother) has faith of BoRa's affection to her siblings. I grew up with 3 older siblings, we have complicated relationships even now that we're older. Our environment, circumstances, upbringing, etc., . Made us who we are today. BoRa is neither rude nor spoiled -- she grew up with her parents as they were first-time parents. While she was learning to walk, her mom is pregnant again and when she was about to go to school, they were having NoEul. The attention were not given to her so what their parents can do is make sure she's not crying nor upset, so they could also care for their other children. The father has to work and the mother is swamped with houseworks and babies to care for -- BoRa was left to her own devices since she was seen as capable and intelligent child. My sister was like that, my mom believes that her eldest is mature and smart -- how terrifying it was for a 6yo to go to her Kindergarten alone bcos her mom is taking care of her 2month old baby sister, plus 2 rowdy 2 and 4yo boys.

And I want to add.. the dominant and loud personality of BoRa probably resulted of being neglected. Imagine you are this kid who needs another bowl of rice but your baby sister is crying bcos she cut herself and your baby bro joined that crying bcos he heard someone's upset and felt a disturbance in the air. The eldest who now can talk try to be as loud as she could be heard without thinking that her sister is hurt and her baby bro is getting hungry from crying. Thinking noone heard you so you started stomping your feet and throw things to be noticed.

Imo the best made show from Korea. Touched upon history, neighbourhood, adolescence, romance and struggles. The core friendship which transcends across every Reply show makes it a must watch. Thank you to the creators, live long to create another one :)

Bora character is totally me. Im not the eldest but im the eldest daughter and also the middle child. Bora and deok sun is totally me. As eldest daughter, i always lose to my brother who are loved by everyone no matter what he did. He always comes first when it comes to anything. So, i need to be the one who tolerate and as middle child, i need to sacrifice a lot for my brother and lil sis. I got the least attention even tho im the smartest among 3 of us. My parents always put my brother and sister first. When I watched reply 1988, it really touched me as this story understand what im going thru as a child. Bora and deok sun character are a total blow up. They act very well and idk if other actress can live up to the character as they did. 🎉🎉🎉🎉 my fav all the time!
