Once again, I say that I'm pleased with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and its orchestra. I say again that the choir has come a LONG way since the days of Richard Condie, when the choir seemed to be releasing and re-releasing the same works over and over (as seemed to be evident in the Columbia albums sold at the record stores). The choir is back--and better than ever!

This melodious music reminds me that I am in the world but not of the world. I long for home, my heavenly home.😢❤

If that beautiful song does not move your soul you are not alive.

"Jupiter" is among my favorite songs in existence. Anytime i hear the theme from it used in praise to the Lord, it moves me deeply beyond compare.

I am moved to tears of joy from this. The hairs on my head stand up anytime I hear a redition of this. Truly beautiful.

I keep coming back to this video. One of the choirs best. I hope I get to sing this someday with my choir. Praise Jesus for all of their talent.🙏❤️

Lyrics

O God beyond all praising,
we worship you today
and sing the love amazing
that songs cannot repay;
for we can only wonder
at every gift you send,
at blessings without number
and mercies without end:
we lift our hearts before thee
and wait upon your word,
we honor and adore thee,
our great and mighty Lord.

The flower of earthly splendor in time must surely die, its fragile bloom surrender to you the Lord most high; but hidden from all nature the eternal seed is sown - though small in mortal stature, to heaven's garden grown: for Christ the King from heaven from death has set us free, and we through him are given the final victory!

Then hear, O gracious Savior,
accept the love we bring,
that we who know your favor
may serve you as our king;
and whether our tomorrows
be filled with good or ill,
we'II triumph through our sorrows
and rise to bless you still:
to marvel at your beauty
and glory in your ways,
and make a joyful duty
our sacrifice of praise.

Let all that I am praise the Lord; with my whole heart I will praise his holy name!

Let all that I am praise the Lord; may I never forget the good things he does for me.

He forgives all my sins and heals all my diseases. He redeems me from death and crowns me with love and tender mercies. He fills my life with good things; my youth is renewed like the eagle’s.
- Psalm 103

If you are hearing "Jupiter" you're not mistaken. That's because it is using "Thaxted", the melody from that section of Jupiter.

Holst took that section and named it Thaxted, after his home town. It was written during WWI, and then in 1921 Holst adapted it into a hymn tune.

In 1925, it was adapted into "I vow to thee my country" and then in 1982, Catholic composer Michael Perry set it to this hymn.

I really needed this today. I hadn't ever heard this sung. I knew of the Jupiter theme, but didn't know this hymn. I have been in a very contemplative place today and this brought me to tears.

My absolute favorite hymn. It says it all so beautifully and this choir is amazing. Thanks for sharing 👍 😊
