[R1] 15-Sec Nudge Mode + Cage Motor View! | Schindler 5400 AP @ Vic Uni, WLG CBD (Hub & MacLaurin)

One of my favourite elevators in this university! (even though I don't study here…yet) This is a Schindler 5400 AP that serves both The Hub and MacLaurin Building. The shaft is caged but the lift is neither caged nor glass — bit of a missed opportunity IMO. Oh well; at least we can get a (fairly) good view of the motor on the top floor! The buttons beep at different tones which I was quite fascinated by. Not to mention the incredibly nice voice! (which I initially assumed was exclusive to 5400 AP’s, but then I read somewhere that it’s actually just a generic voice, and then not long after I heard a newer OTIS Gen2 with it, so…) This elevator also has a 15-second nudge mode timer (like most OTIS Gen2's) but at least the sound isn't as torturous and earrape as a Gen2 which makes it fun to deliberately do. (Interestingly enough, if you leave it and do nothing on some floors, it times out by itself lol!) And then you have the buttons, which all beep at slightly different tones, making it fun to do melodies with! The icing on the cake, of course, is the awesome E-Type chimes on this elevator! Infinitely awesome.

I like to scare my parents in my condo lifts with the button beeps by making it sound like the alarm LOL! I assume the different tones are for blind people to get used to with or something. But imagine that an a 50-floor building lol.
