I'm a portuguese 20yo and there's a huge habitational crisis going on here in Portugal because of landlord and government inaction, so I really apreciate this video. And all the other ones too. I love this channel and the canvas

We’ve been so indoctrinated to accepting the landlord/rental mentality that it’s inconceivable as being parasitic.

I’ve had to catch myself while listening from thinking, “well that’s fair”…because that’s how it’s always been. Wow!

“A form of coercion.”

The Amish help their neighbors build their homes, and so does Habitat for Humanity. Why can’t we?

The anarchist’s way of living would therefore ELIMINATE making stupid, wasteful products because who in their right mind would WANT to do that.

In turn it helps the environment … A LOT.

Go off! Landlords are making the housing crisis so much worse and they're a massive problem where I live. They've driven up the pricing for houses so much that it's impossible for most people to get a house, they either shell out 400k or they rent a property. We don't live in a major area, no house here is worth 400k, it's messed up that they can drive up the price by buying houses they don't live in

But what about other purchases, where profits are an integral part of doing business?

i swear... the amount of time my friend has rented a room from a mom and pop family landlord and has been given 3 days to vacate when the room was suddenly needed... I tell him every time he doesnt have to leave in 3 days he has rights. It makes me so incredibly mad every time.

Great landlords eventually die or sell.

Being a landlord is just like owning a local store. ITS A BUSINESS If you don't make money, You shutdown. If you break even, then why do it? The thing is the city doesn't wanna fix the houses up. 2 we all seen government housing etc. They simply wont gaf. But once they're are fixed the owner has the responsibility of maintaining it. And the city will tax the owner, charge them for insurance, and the worst is when the city says the property is worth more so they can tax you more on income. Do you work for free? Some landlords suck yes, but if you wanna watch shit really hit the fan. Wait til you rent from a corporation like blackrock

🤦🏽 it's not passive at all unless you buy a "turnkey" most ppl buy condemned property(houses in bad condition) bc its cheaper bc it needs to be fixed up. Look at landlords the same way you look at Steve job or Elon musk. They're not the smart ppl building the tesla or iPhone. They have the ideas. Aka project managers. In fact buildings usually have general contractors. They literally just contract all the work...but they also pay for that. think ppl if you don't have enough houses on the market. Prices go up for rent and buying. And some areas have rent control. You can see what the average rent is by area code. This is more like a rant of just not understanding simple business. Supply and demand
