Hi Sarah my name is Carole Hester and I live in Derker in Oldham and I am a big fan of your channel. My great grand father was Edmond Garside and my grand father was John Garside. My great grand father Edmond owned Elk Mill, Park Sandy Mill and Shiloh Mill in Royton and buried in Royton cemetery. I have photos and pictures of them both from famely archives and a book of the mills that they owned. My great grand father Edmond lived in Thornton in Royton. Looking at the church thought it was a Methodist chapel ?Looking at the graves you can see the true skill and craft of the stone masonry done 100% by Master stone mason's. Probably cost a few pounds to do but no expense spared that's for sure.
