Donkey Kong Country Returns HD is undoubtedly worth playing in that it’s a good game still; but it seems to be far too overpriced for what it is, and the game having very changes made since its last re-release over a decade ago means that it doesn’t have as many modern quality of life features that can help it appeal to a more expanded audience.

Simultaneously, it being the third release of the game, means that enthusiasts are unlikely to bite it, especially at that price and with those shortcomings.

They basically took the 3DS version and ported it, upscaled it, and cleaned it up a bit so it would have the extra content and why it's missing some of the smaller graphical flair of the Wii original.

I think for those who didn't play it to death on 3DS and/or Wii already and don't have easy access to those platforms, it's a good game. It may be worth those for Switch owners who never played in and loved Tropical Freeze. For everyone else, I'd wait for a sale unless you don't have much else to play right now.

Honestly if this and Tropical Freeze had come out as like a double pack when the switch was newer it would’ve been great, I would’ve even been comfy paying 60 bucks for it

That's too bad they didn't modernize the vehicle sections and checkpoints a bit, or at least provide an option. I'm ok with the tougher difficulty but I wanted to play it with my gf who is a super casual.

This game is worth $30 to me. I would love to play it - I never played the original and it looks super fun. But no way I’ll pay $60 for it. I’ll wait until enough used ones go up for sale and the price drops.

I´ll wait but got Tropical Freeze Switch version for half this price some years ago and it´s weird Returns doesn´t get improved visuals for the price it does cost now so I´ll wait.

This is my first playthrough so I'm really enjoying it so far, I got it for £30 on playasia so the sale was great.

My only problem with the game is the volume funnily enough, even at full the game is incredibly low. Isn't an issue with my switch either as when I go into the switch menu everything is normal volume.
