Watched Ava yesterday. I liked it. I think it did have some really solid emotional beats with her family where they really let the film breathe which I appreciate - but the emotional beats with her career attachments felt lacking.

If you are looking for an assassin-action movie with a low-profile protagonist, who looks casual and does every-day stuff, I'd recommend the two Equalizer movies with Denzel Washington.

Honestly, this should have been a Netflix mini series of 8 or 10 episodes at least. There are just too many plots which try to grab your attention. If we had a much longer running time, they could have been highlighted properly. This way, it feels like a mess, because the film has about five or six potential central relationships / conflicts it wants to develop and does a surface job on all of them. For a film, at least some of the subplots should have been dropped and the story made more focused.

I read somewhere that they offered Jessica Chastain Ilsa Faust in Mission Impossible: Rouge Nation but she turned it down [For the best since Rebecca Ferguson was brilliant in that part].

I’m a little surprised you were so impressed by Davis. She wasn’t bad, but I definitely wouldn’t puff her role up so much.
I thought the fighting choreography was weak, but all and all, I didn’t think it was a turd.

It sounds like someone thought that enough time has passed since Grosse Pointe Blank that no one would notice if he completely ripped off the he wasn't busy beating his wife.

I wanted to see if Ava was worth .99 cents. But I was looking for a review of Ava and watch 3 reviews but didn’t finished them. Yours is the best for this awful movie. At least that’s what I got from the 3 reviews. But after seeing the reviews I don’t think it’s even worth renting for .99 cents.
