How to Survive A Fashion Disaster: 10 Spring 2023 Trends You Need to Avoid!
These videos always get me into trouble but I always like to share the popular fashion trends that I believe are not worth spending our money on. Of course I'm not expecting everyone to agree with me when it comes to these choices but as always I'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments below. Do you agree or disagree with my list? Are there any other trends I should have added to this list? I'd love you to share your thoughts so lets chat in the comments.
Anyway, thanks SO much for watching and I'll see you real soon.

A designer's goal is to sell something. You have to stay true to your own style.

OMGOSH! There is a chance that I may be finally maturing in my style journey. I look at trends and think, “Wow! That looks great, but I’d never wear it!” I love many kinds of trends, and I love fashion, but I choose to wear what I love, and comfort is really important to me now! Thanks for another great video, Leonie! 🌹

Trends will come and go but style is forever. My philosophy is to buy classic pieces things you can wear over and over also dress up or down .

High rise pants - the worst fashion trend that ever happened to short (waisted) women.
Your bra being less than a hand width away from your waistband not only looks absurd, but is a source of constant discomfort.
I also sympathize with the tall women with the opposite issue. Because I get it.

I agree with your assessments 100%! I got rid of my low rise pants, they’re just not flattering or even comfortable. Mid rise suits my body and even some well made high rise are nice. As for the other trends, good for you if you love it but just not for me.

I love fringe, I can’t get enough of it! Even exaggerated styles look really funky and fun. You just need to pick something that makes sense for your style if you like fringe as well.

Pastel colours come back every spring, so in that sense, it's a sustainable trend. Of course, you should think about whether pastel colours suit you and then choose a piece of clothing accordingly. Close to the face, another shade of colour, if pastel colours do not suit. The blouse with little hearts on it was adorable. Otherwise pretty much on the same lines. The star pattern reached a similar saturation point as it was bombarded everywhere, even in the interior.

Agree with you completely! Excess fringing makes the wearer look like a human mop. The over abundance of hearts makes the wearer look like they're advertising a Valentines Day special, and extreme distressing gives the impression that the wearer was stuck in a waste disposal unit. I'm glad the jean rises are finally coming down a bit. It's no fun shopping for pants when everything hits the bottom of my rib cage and makes me look like Steve Urkel.

If you have a slip dress, a short one or a maxi it can be worn under a sheer one! I think that might be OK! Thank you for sharing, much appreciated! Have a great day Leonie! 🤗😍

I so agree with you on this one. Sheer and boudoir styles, bubble anything, huge oversized clothing...ugh. Do the designers hate women? Oh my!

Love all your advice as always! You evaluate trends from a sustainable point of view, which I always appreciate so much. What a breathe of fresh air. The only one on the list I will keep is the "pastel". But I won't overdo it, like, if I wear a pastel skirt, my top will be neutral. Or I'll wear full body neutral with a pastel colour bag. 😁 I think pastel is a bit baby-ish, that part of me is here to stay. Hhahaa

I have a very short waist and can’t wear high rise pants and jeans without them coming up to my bra line so I applaud the return of low rise! 😂 everything else is a hard pass, especially fringe, I’d have that all twisted in one wear!

Hi Leonie this was another really good video. I agree with your list (none will be in my collection for sure !) - some of the trends are just so unflattering no matter what size, shape or color - but as you said everyone to their own preference. Have a great week ahead lol ❤

I absolutely love the pastel trouser suits. I'm 56 this year. I bought a mint green one from Zara a couple of years ago.
Last year I bought a yellow trouser suit and the matching shorts too. So I can wear a trouser suit or the shorts suit depending on the weather. I absolutely love them. If I see another colour that I like this year - possibly pink I would buy that too. You can also mix and match the pieces and wear the blazer with jeans or white trousers. And the trousers with a white top and blazer.
I'm a jeans or trousers, shirt or t-shirt and blazer person. And then tailored shorts for the summer. I love tailoring. I think in the last couple of years I've probably worn a skirt once and a dress not at all. Just not my vibe!
I think the pastel suits have a bit more longevity. For some-one like me I would wear them and wear them.

I agree with most especially with bubble skirts, shoulder pads and fringe, but i love oversized jeans. I am tall i have abs it works on me. Actually my most widest Margiela ones, always get so many complements. And its so comfortable. So i will continue wear all those jeans 😜have a blessed day🙏🧡

The only “trend” I would consider is the slightly undone/ imperfect vibe, but that’s simply because I buy nearly all my wardrobe secondhand.

I agree with the bubble skirts. I haven't seen any females wearing them. I had 2 of these skirts in the 1980s & I loved them back then.

I actually am on board with the ❤’s, distressing and the low rise. I don’t like the high rise at all…it makes me look like I have a belly pooch. I’m more mid rise, though. Lately it’s been high rise EVERYTHING and I’m tired of not being able to shop for the latter. Sorry not sorry 😂🌈💕

Literally everything on this list is what I wear and incorporate into my style 😎😂 low rise, corsets, frayed hems!
I’m also a fashion designer so yeah 😂
