U2’s music literally saved my life 20 years ago next Tuesday. I was about halfway through chemo, in isolation in the hospital because my white blood cell count was so low that I was sick and in danger from viruses/bacteria. It also happened to be my 10th marriage anniversary. I’d listen to ATYCLB every time I went in for chemo, but that night, in the middle of the night, I was in deep despair. I was so sick that death seemed preferable, even though I was only 30. I put my headphones on and Stuck in a Moment, then Walk On gave me just enough hope to keep going. That whole album seemed written just for me that fall.
