Cashless debit cards won't 'be put to pensioners': PM

Prime Minister Scott Morrison says the cashless debit card will not “be put to pensioners”.

“I can assure you we’re not going to do that,” he said at the Sky News People’s Forum, in response to Opposition Leader Anthony Albanese’s statement that the government should get rid of it.

Mr Albanese said the card “not only tells you what you can buy, it’s who you can buy it from”.

“What we’re saying very clearly is it should be gotten rid of," Mr Albanese said.

Despite what these liars tell you, digital id is their plan, and it will be far worse than cashless debit cards.

They'll just have to take the mark of the beast to buy and sell like the rest.

Wait a minute Sco Mo it's common knowledge that you tried to introduce a cashless debit card for about 60% of all Centrelink recipients right across Australia
All those on jobseeker payments were targeted along with the single parent pension and disability pension.
Don't deny it! Come election time you are creeping under a stone because you know it's a tight race.
The only reason why the cashless debit card didn't go through was because independent Jacqui Lambie voted it down as you well know

If I had one of these cards - on principle I'd have to max it out buying sugar and bread yeast then cook up enough moonshine to euthanize a herd of cows.

I got no skin in this game but I can read a bullshitter. Dude says he's not going to do debit cards then proceeds to explain why debit cards are so great. Bullshit dude!

Cashless card helping people manage money better what a joke because you cannot put some of the money away for bills either by in cash envelopes or in a seperate account just for bills. Plus don’t get me started on how cashless makes life more expensive for people as they cannot buy second hand goods at garage sales or buy from eBay, gumtree etc. Most people on Centrelink rely on places were they can buy second hand goods because it’s the only way they can afford it. In the areas of Australia on where they are trialing the card some people are having trouble to do basic things such as make home loan repayments or pay the rent because the card says that that isn’t allowed give me a break.

LNP LIES ABOUT THE INDUE CARD – THESE ARE THE FACTS

FACT: The relevant legislation was amended in 2020 and forcibly includes pensioners on to the Indue cashless welfare card.

FACT: While at present this applies to targeted areas, it can easily be expanded to cover all of Australia.

FACT: Age pensioners in targeted areas have ALREADY been forced on to the Indue card.

FACT: Andrew Forest, who inspired the creation of the cashless welfare card, is on record as stating that the cashless welfare card was created with pensioners as its target.

FACT: Members of the federal government are on record expressing their support for the card and for rolling out across Australia.

FACT: Scott Morrison denied that Medicare would be cut before the last election yet there were over 900 cuts and bulk billing is being withdrawn by doctors across Australia due to the ongoing rebate freeze. There is NO reason to believe his denials about expanding the Indue card to all pensioners.

FACT: The Indue card has been forced on to people who are perfectly capable of budgeting and handling their own money. Is has NOT been used just for the stated purpose of ‘assisting’ people who have difficulty managing money.

FACT: The Indue card is run by a private company with links to the LNP.

FACT: The cost of running and administering the Indue card is the first step towards privatising the welfare system.

FACT: Each Indue card costs taxpayers thousands of dollars to set up and maintain and takes money away from the welfare budget that could be directed to welfare recipients to increase their already poor standard of living.

FACT: Purchases made on the Indue card are visible to employees of a private company.

FACT: There are regular outages on the Indue system resulting in missed payments for critical items like rent and power bills and the denial of food purchases in stores.

FACT: The Indue card has not worked as expected and has made life more difficult for most of those who have been forced on to it. Independent studies confirm this.

FACT: The card prevents people from accessing more affordable goods and services and puts already disadvantaged people in a worse financial position.

FACT: The card HURTS small businesses as ONLY the businesses that are approved by Indue can deal with customers who are restricted by the card in where they make purchases.

FACT: At least 27 pensioners have already been forced on to the Indue card and the government has attempted to hide this by listed them as ‘Other Expenses’.

Cashless cards are coming, both parties want it, so it's coming. It's already been trialled. Just has to be fully launched. But it is coming. And it's not just pensioners. Will start with all welfar payments then move up the wage brackets.

How can 2 different people have the same food and rent bills, totaling up to 80% of the same welfare payment. And who do they go and see when something goes wrong. And what happens to any excess money that doesn't get spent, does it go into your bank account ?
This is just another way of privatizing an essential service.
INDUE is a private company, who said a few years ago, that they'll have offices scattered around the country, with a couple of people in each office.... so where are these offices, and what's going to happen to Centrelink.
And look into how the whole INDUE card scam was started with Larry Anthony (politician), and the sale of INDUE for $340 million, just after he was given the tender !

Albo wouldn’t understand that children will miss out on food, with removal of the cashless credit card in vulnerable and less fortunate communities.

To make all retired Australians use the Indue card is to say that all the old folks lack the mental capacity to pay their own bills.. I agree that Junkies and alcholics should be on the card. But give the rest of a say in how we budget. The Indue card is just a sneaky way of saying the Gov. does'nt control your finances but really do. For those saying it's a Gov. payment and should be controled as such. Remember this, You too will be retired one day and what you agree to will one day be forced on you so you will be wearing our shoes.. How are you going to feel then.. When it's too late to stop this madness.. A cash free society will put us all on a credit system where a company will like Indue will control what you spend. All the while, The Gov. will say " WE don't control your spending". Stop it now or it will be too late..
