Where the Toys Come From: Inside Hasbro’s Model Workshop

Designing toys takes sketching and planning and imagining, sure. But what's even more impressive is the actual making—still a much more industrial and craftsmanlike process than you'd imagine. It requires, essentially, a whole factory condensed into a few rooms of Hasbro's headquarters outside of Providence, Rhode Island.

oh god. i feel so bad. the predaking he's working on at around 1:30.... i butchered two of those in a very poor attempt to make an onyx prime custom. and now hasbro's releasing a genuine, spectacularly beautiful onyx prime that blows my shit out of the water. i am so sorry mr maher

It’s so different how the models are made now with everything being from 3D prints. While Hasbro still has the workshop still on site where sculptors used to do models by hand out of clay and Bondo(yup that stuff for patching cars), not much happens in there now.
