AYON SA ENCYCLOPEDIA AT AKLAT NG MGA KASAYSAYAN:
Ang Ophir ay isang pamosong lugar na binabanggit ng Biblia, na maraming matatagpuang mga likas na kayamanan, tulad ng lantay na ginto, pilak at ibat ibang mga mamahaling bato mga halaman punong kahoy, mga hayop at ibon, kung saan ay maituturing o mailalarawan itong isang paraiso.
AYON NAMAN SA BIBLIA:
Sa Ophir galing ang mga ginto at pilak na ginamit na ipinangpahid (plated) sa mga pundasyon at pader ng templong ipinagawa ng Diyos kay Haring Solomon.
Sa Ophir din galing ang mga kahoy na ginamit na upuan sa Templo ng Diyos.
Sa Ophir nanggaling ang halos lahat ng kayamanan ni Haring Solomon. Sa panahon ng kanyang paghahari ang pilak ay halos ginagawa na lang panambak sa lansangan.
Ng mabalitaan ni Haring Hiram ng Tiro, na ipapagawa na ni Haring Solomon ng Israel ang Templo ng Diyos ay kinontrata nya Si haring Solomon at nagkasundo sila na magpagawa ng malalaking barko sa Esion Geber sa bukana ng Edom sa baybaying dagat ng Reed Sea. (Ang Reed po ay isang uri ng talahib na matatagpuan sa baybaying dagat sa lugar na ito, kaya tinawag na Reed Sea, na knalaunan ay tinawag na Red Sea.)
