My late husband and I traveled after we retired and my sewing machine was always in the mix of luggage. He golfed and I sewed or quilted. It was the best of the best of our last years together.

You crack me up! "I did not want to pack too much." ;) I did the same thing as you a few years ago. My daughter also lived in Texas and her husband is in the military. I spent 3 weeks helping out with 3 grandkids and discovered that their school had REQUIRED teacher gift days once a month. I spent a good portion of my time sewing full body aprons and table runners. Good thing I had brought a "few" yards of fabric! That's a very cute block for a donation quilt. Thanks for the idea!

I hope you enjoy your time the with your daughter and grandkids. It is always hard when your family is far away. I am fortunate that my middle daughter and her family moved back to Texas so for now I have all of my daughters and their family just 45 minutes away. It is a blessing!

I took my machine when my husband & I traveled to his college Alma Mater for a reunion. I enjoyed sewing while he visited with old friends and enjoyed all the festivities. Now I have a machine at my son's house in Missouri to use when I visit for several weeks at a time.

I like the Olfa mat that folds in half, it fits perfectly in my large Yazzi bag that goes to retreats and traveling on week long stints with the husband. My featherweight goes with many times, I just love her!!!

Great idea having a machine that you can leave there and not have to carry on a plane! A small cutting mat works well. I have a rotating mat but I travel with the small mat.

I love all my featherweights!! I have 3 black and one white! The white was at a local estate auction and I won the bidding…$350! They are fun to sew on!

I never realized how important it is to choose the right thread until after I had sewed an entire project and then pressed it and the the thread melted! Picking the right thread is so very important!
I love your machine! I wish I still had a Singer portable that I had 40 years ago! The box started to fall apart. Beth, you are always so busy. I need to learn how to stay motivated like you do!
