We've had days when we thought we were going to die while riding a mountain bike. In most cases, we get in trouble because of our lack of skills. However, there are situations scarier than that. It's when we find ourselves in a dangerous situation and our bikes start to fail. That's the day I almost died.

Bad brakes are scary but with time you will gain more skills and confidence. eventually ...Good luck and keep practicing.
Massive amounts of practice and seat time will enable your true skillset. When you can stop thinking directly, and instead react instantaneously from past experiences, you will begin to string together all the separate challenges into one smooth, transitioning flow.

Yuka has always been a wonderful mountain biker, skills not in question! It was her skills that got her through this! What I learned from this is that I no longer need to question my obsessiveness over maintaining my bicycle! It’s amazing how often that little warning inside our head is right.

Yuka, you're a champ! The way you take a hit and get back up is inspirational. I've been watching you for a while now and your skills continue to improve over time, so don't be so hard on yourself. I just experienced the same thing last month and OTB'ed on one of our trails here. I continued even though my rear brakes are failing.. very similar scenario. Keep shredding Yuka!
