Actually, fidget spiners help for stress and anxiety and have helped many people

“It’s a toy for you” THANK you. Many people find comfort in certain fidgets and it just really rubs me the wrong way when other kids use it to their advantage.

Like, yeah. Sure. It’s satisfying and all, and believe me, I had one too. but stop pretending like we didn’t just take away a proper tool for struggling kids and make it wayyyy too mainstream and treat it like an excuse to keep toys in the classroom. Couldn’t have said it better myself man. ✊

Edit: y’all I’m not saying you can’t use it, I’m saying my thoughts on the stupid “it’s a tool” thing. His response was “it’s a toy for you” and I just appreciated the reply to that because it’s most definitely true that people use “it’s a tool” as an excuse to keep toys in the classroom lmao

Okay!!! But genuinely appreciate that fact that he mentioned fidget spinner’s being for ADHD people, as someone with ADHD

I remember the day fidget spinners got really popular. Literally everyone brought them to school so the teachers banned them. I feel bad though because I knew people who used them to deal with stress and anxiety

Omg, the fidget spinners annoyed me so much. As someone who actually uses fidgets to stem and concentrate, it was extremely frustrating that everyone got them banned from the school to where even people who needed them couldn’t use them.

As someone with adhd, people making fidget spinners a trend made me so frustrated. Sure, if you want to get one for home whatever, but popularizing it had quite a few negative impacts on people who needed them for the reason they were made - fidgeting.
For one reason, teachers would see it as a toy and a distraction, taking them away even from kids who benefit from it. Its association with memes and trends also means that once the trend ends and the memes die, everyone will make fun of you for using one, plus all the people who think they're better than others for hating things that are trendy will bully you right from the get go.

I remember when fidget spinner’s became popular in my school. Kids were allowed them, until teachers had enough of kids not paying attention in class. Then many teachers banned them, and eventually, the entire school banned them.
And then in 5th grade, my teacher said that we were allowed to use a small amount of slime or puddy under our desks to help those with ADHD. As someone with ADHD, it was really helpful. But then one of the “popular girls” from my classroom brought out, I kid you not, a gallon of slime they were playing with on their table. My class then banned slime and puddy, but luckily my teacher let me use some since I actually have ADHD, and need help focusing

I love converse because of how comfy they are. Its also a common interest I share with my Dad, so that makes it very special

Fidget Spinners were made for people who NEEDED a fidget but then everybody wanted them so they got banned in classes which ruined the whole point for people who actually needed them. (I know all this because my brother was one of the people who actually needed them.)

"Britney it's a toy for you let's me honest"
There was a kid in my school named Britney that used the it's not a toy it's a tool excuse after they where banned from the class and then when I was aloud to have this squishy dog thing to help me concentrate Britney got mad and the teacher had to explain
1. I have ADHD so it's harder to concentrate
2. It's not distracting
Britney then thought it was a good idea to come to my desk and take it, she got sent to the principal.
Just had to share this because I find it funny

To be honest as a kid with anxiety I hated the figet spinner craze because it got figets banned in my school for a long time and I actually need them

Fidget spinners were supposed to help people who needed a small thing to fidget with during class but then everyone bought them so they got banned even for the people who ACTUALLY needed them. (I know this because my brother was one of the people who needed a fidget.)

I feel like the idea behind fidget spinners was just thrown away. Seeing as they were meant (and still do help) for anxiety for a lot of people. My school literally banned them at one point. I personally don’t use a fidget spinner but I have several anxiety “toys” in my backpack. Some teachers don’t take kindly to it lol. I also uses my phones pop-socket sometimes 😂 but the nurse at my school introduced me to the “anxiety ring” low key addicting lol. I was trying to prevent an anxiety attack and it sorta worked but with the combination of her talking to me and relaxing me and subconsciously playing with the ring really helped. She even allowed me to keep it which I love. But o feel like schools didn’t take into account the actually helpful side of fidget spinners, because depending on the person they can be really helpful. Like I know my go to anxiety toy is either now the ring or a fidget cube
