Seems the remastered version still has time-traveling Egyptians from the Bronze Age lmao

The more I watch Legend play with pikes, the more he reinforces the suspicion he doesn’t know how to press the space button to bring their fucking pikes down.

I hear ya on the alliances. The only time in something like 8 games of total war that alliances did something major for me was in Rome 2, playing as selucia. I had a trade empire that rivaled Rome and Carthage put together, and my allies parked 20 stack armies outside of each of my cities to act as a borrowed defense while my main armies expanded my borders. It was...pretty awesome actually. I never lost even the smallest town that game

"im not good with pikes" Since you are on the partner program with CA now, i am looking forward to your early access streams of the "Alexander" expansion! 😂
No pikes there! Just.. Long sticks.

I remember Egyptian cities were like impossible to control because of all the farming bonus they had the cities would grow non stop and it would be impossible to keep the public order fine because of all the squalor

We need a co-op or head to head campaign for this game !

We need a Multiplayer Campaign for Rome Total war remastered.
This is the perfect game for an Online (co-op/head to head) campaign for many reasons:

1. Probably the Shortest endturn Times of All Total war games

2. Modabillity to create small, fast paced campaigns with even shorter endturn times

3. Fast Battles

4. Both or (if you really want to make us happy) all three players Could play as the different Roman factions and then fight each other when the Civil war happens

5. The flaws of the campaign and battle AI (from the original and other Total war games) would not be a big Problem with an Online campaign and make the game much more challenging

6. Its Rome Total war!! We all loved it and Played it a thousand times over, its time to add something New to the experience.

7. Many people in the community are asking for an Online coop campaign

8. MODS! Just imagine playing mods with your friends

Add this features and its a perfect game:
-an online campaign (maybe even with 3 or 4 Player Support)
-dillemmas [events with choices] from modern total war games (would give mods more possibilitys for roleplaying etc)
-unit replenishment from modern total war games (with possibility to choose between this an the original system)
-an Indicator which tells you where you can Set up an ambush
-killcounts for the unit stats scroll that shows up on the side (as in newer total war games)

Another difference between Rome 1 and Medieval 2 is cavalry, it's much easier to control in Rome 1 and they charge more easily in Rome 1. In medieval you need to be patient cuz they sometimes don't put their spears down to charge, they just engage without charging and that's annoying. In both games cavalry is very powerful

This is not a full campaign completion, but I am still happy asfk! Thanks for the stream!

I don't recall (randomly spawning) Rebels attacking cities in RTW but they block the path to them so that's annoying to say the least

I hope they fix Egypt's military roster and leadership before the release, they were ruled by an elite of ethnic Macedonians and Greeks, not by Bronze Age pharaohs. Their armies were Hellenistic and chariots were long abandoned in Egyptian warfare by then.

Just gonna leave this tip here: I know that Egypt will change to cavalry generals (or let you choose) at some point. I do not remember what the criteria was, however. It might be a cavalry stable building tier, or a city tier.

I really wish that the remaster embraced a more historically accurate Ptolemaic Kingdom. It always bugged me in the vanilla that it didn't treat Egypt like the Hellenistic Kingdom it was during the period in question.

I'm very, very rusty but from ancient recollection... Desert Cavalry are actually pretty good (they used to be amazing because they got infantry quantity rather than cavalry quantity, but that got fixed). Nubian Cavalry have a slightly better charge but Desert Cavalry have armor piercing weapons so do better in hand to hand. In the early game Desert Cavalry are much easier to retrain because a lot of newly captured settlements wont have the tier 2 cavalry building. Egyptian generals are trash tier. They lose most archer duels and any time you put them in combat it is super easy for the large chariot model to get surrounded and for the general to be killed. Iirc they do get fear, though, so putting them near the front line then side/rear charging with cavalry usually results in a mass rout. However they suck at pursuing routed units because they tend to do knock-downs rather than kills so you have to manually scythe routing units numerous times.

Awesome things about Rome 2: Forced march, raiding, champions, unit traditions & named legions, more settlements/factions

Legend, the skaven have infiltrated the world of rome 1 with that ceasefire agreement

It was so delicious to see chariots just constantly instadying running into my pikes. So satisfying

For all its merits, RTW1's Egyptians are a joke. It's like some guy bringing the staff coffee in the midst of a brainstorming session mumbled ""You know, Ramses' Egypt was way cooler than those Ptolemaic boresacks." and everybody present just...kind of agreed and nodded.
