The biggest heart-breaker part of this whole arc/ship is not necessarily the thing Reze actually loved Denji. Not even her "death". But the fact Denji has never found out that Reze actually returned to him and she was ready to leave with him. From his point of view Reze just left and never returned. Only we readers know the truth.

When I was reading through the manga I also felt as though she really did develop feelings for him. Great highlight video to get the anime watchers interested!

I cried while reading this. I think that the flower from the charity girl was the last straw: Reze understood that even if she departs, she won't be able to run away from her feelings for Denji. And understanding that Denji has a kind heart and really feels something towards her made Reze forget about the threat of Makima. In her mind, those feelings were worth everything, absolutely everything in the world.
And Makima... That was spectacular - her starting by bringing up the town/country mouse topic. The sense that Reze never had a chance for a happy end from the very beginning.
This arc was a better tear-jerking tragic story than the entirety of Clannad. At least for me.

It's very sad that a lot of fans have recently started hating on Reze, for no other reason than simply because Denji and Asa are getting closer and closer. Just because you might prefer Asa/think Denji and Asa is a better couple doesn't mean you have to hate on Reze.

Unlike any other female that Denji had a relationship with, Reze was the only one who actively tried to take off his dog colar. She said that his "dream life" was actually the bare minimum of living, she offered him to run away when he never thought of it as a possibility (in the manga he did initially want to run away in the encounter with the muscle devil, but it was more because he was afraid of Makima until she doggified him after the encounter).

Reze was the only girl who had real feelings for Denji as a person, and the only one who tried to make Denji think for himself more.

This video is amazingly explained and gave me a whole different side to Reze and Denji. Tbh CSM is one of the few animes where i don't ship anyone but even so I hope Denji finds the right girl.

For whatever reason and circumstances behind Reze but her true feeling for Denji and their connection for being related each other is REAL. It's sad that Denji and Reze finally made the right decision for their true feeling but it didn't happened.
