Cubans mark the first anniversary of the death of their revolutionary leader.

Fidel Castro built the communist state on America's doorstep half a century ago.

And in three months, his brother and successor, Raul, steps down.

Viva la Revolucion! Viva Fidel! He hugely improved the lives of Cubans who were previously living under a death squad dictatorship banana republic under Batista, who Castro overthrew. Of course the American narrative never mentions how horrible life was for 95% of Cubans before 1959 when America's strongman dictator Batista was in charge, killing and disappearing thousands of Cubans who dared to criticize his regime, and the oppressive poverty almost all Cubans while Batista lived like a royal monarch.

Cuba is so broke, my Cuban friends said the car carrying his casket broke down on live TV. Cubans want to have normal lives with jobs and the ability to buy things at market prices whenever they want. At present the states dominates the economy and makes imports, Cuba makes very little, outrageously unaffordable for the average Cuban. This is story is propaganda most Cubans want change big time!

Personally, I have high hopes for Cuba to improve its socialist system in the long run. So whoever is going to be the next leader of Cuba after Raul Castro remains to be seen. Viva Cuba! Viva Fidel! Viva la Revolucion!
