It’s a nice unit, love the internal construction.

If that's the original WD40, it's only marginally better than no lubricant. Use lithium grease on the mechanicals and Deoxit on the contacts.
I'm surprised the bus bars aren't kept as close to each other as possible to minimize the loop area.

A little tuner/turntable lube on the roller might work well.

I find that quite often the user has exceeded the ratings, e, g current for resistance boxes and voltage for caps. Like a guy in the test department who used a resistor decade box to dim a 12V 55W headlight bulb as someone was using the power rheostat. Sad to say he let the smoke out😢

"It's a nice compact unit" - Dude- that thing is HUGE! But super interested to see how it performs, or if you need to do some work. Also, with caps at like 10% accuracy, doesn't this end up being more of a variable capacitor? I mean, it's not like you are going to dial in 105 nF. It's gonna be all over. No?
