How to Use GoodRx to Check Prescription Prices

GoodRx Shows Prescription Prices After the PBM Discount Has Been Applied.

If You Have Health Insurance and Are on an HSA Plan, the GoodRX Price May Not Be Your Exact Price (since the discount may be run through a different PBM than yours), But It Will Be in the Ballpark.

For a Brand Name Medication, the Ballpark Price Will Likely Be $200, $300 or $400+ Per Month.

When a Doctor Prescribes You a Medication, Look It Up on the GoodRx App While Still in the Examining Room.

Show the Price to the Doctor and If It is Too Expensive For You, Ask "Can We Look at Some Other Options. This One Costs Too Much."

On the GoodRx App You Can Search by Medical Condition (e.g. Diabetes) or Symptom (e.g. Pain) and the App Will List the Most Common Categories of Medications in Descending Order.

Pick the Top Category and the App Will Show Medications in that Category Along with Their Prices. Find a Medication that You Can Afford and Ask the Doctor if That One Will a Suitable Replacement.

I'm curious as to WHY these pharmacies honor these lower prices with a GoodRX-generated coupon. What's in it for them? Does GoodRX have some kind of agreement with these pharmacies where GoodRX gets a bit of a kickback for bringing business to the pharmacy?

I went to pick up my rx from cvs yesterday and the girl at the pharmacy told me she didn’t have the ability to look up the Good rx price? They always did before. Was she just being lazy??

Dr. Bricker, doctors can check the price if they have real time benefit checks, startups like RxRevu started working on this but now even surescripts provide this feature! as a patient i can totally relate, when there was no goodrx i used to go back to my family doc and ask for a cheaper medication because neither of us have ability to check the prices.

In Australia a month’s supply of each medication costs me $6.60 and I am not on a pension. That’s $13.20 per month.

There are MANY MANY prescription discount plans besides GoodRx. In fact, many can often beat the discount price of Good Rx. Each time a prescription is filled, a wise consumer should have the pharmacy process about 5 or 6 different discount companies. Each and every time on each and every prescription, spoken from personal experience. I question you on why you only promote GoodRx. Are you an Affiliate of theirs?
