The whole discussion about making cars cut co2 while datacenter are generating carbon is just silly. They are completely different industries and you can't just compare, otherwise there are thousands of other industries that you can play the same exercise with. Just because two of them happen to have the same owner, doesn't mean it's suddenly a valid comparison. Each industry have their own means of cutting emissions and a timeline for reaching that goal. Each industry is also having a different impact on humanity. Cars going electric really only has an environmental impact and little change to our daily lives. AI on the other hand is hugely transformative, much like our lives before and after the Internet.

The chargers at depots are fundamental to the Semi rollout. If that slows the rollout, so be it. It's a one time cost, and will pay for itself very quickly.

The reason European trucks are blunt nosed is that the total length of the truck and trailer is a regulated # in Europe.

But just as EVs get cleaner as the grid gets cleaner, same with the data centers, the cleaner the grid, the cleaner the data center.

In regards to the nacs extension cord, I don't think it's made for supercharging. I think it's made for people who are early adopters to the home charger that you could buy 5 years ago. The original Home chargers not the one that comes with your Tesla but the one that you install at home came with like an 8 ft cord. Then they added a 15 for cord. Anyway the point is if you have one of those shorter cables AT HOME then this extension cord would benefit you greatly if you want to charge someone's car outside your garage door. But! You know some idiots going to put it in his trunk and try supercharging with it, then the thing is going to overheat melt maybe catch on fire. Then when the police and the fire departments comes they're going to blame the Tesla instead of admitting that they did some dumb sh$$

A huge chunk of data centers coming online are doing so with paired solar / battery projects, significantly reducing their grid and carbon impact

Tesla has worked with data center companies like Switch since 2020 to provide energy storage solutions for data centers powered by solar energy. For example, Switch is using Tesla Megapacks to store energy from solar farms for its data centers in Nevada. Not sure if this is still happening.

You’re wrong about Europe. Most trucks end at the base in Europe, so on-route charging makes less sense than in the US

The Ford and GM SC access isn’t limit to not busy SC. They are limited to V3 / 4 SC. v2 SC cannot do CCS communication. Also the V3 SC need a module upgrade to handle CCS communication and Tesla is working their way through their network upgrading the V3 but not all of them are ready yet.

To be fair data centers are as green as operators are willing to make them. For example buying the electricity from a wind farm or even adding a wind farm to the grid in another location. The US wind belt from ND to TX is a larger undeveloped resource because that is not where the power is needed. I can see the data/training center at gigaTexas powered by Texas wind.

15:15 yeah... Bolts charge @ 50-ish KW. Hopefully there's a restriction on how long they can sit at a charger.

I saw some weird short story today suggesting Nikola is crushing Tesla in the Semi space.

Nikola... a stock once over 1900, and lingering at an all-time low of 5.

It's all relative... once Tesla does what they do, I would assume they will develop a crazy back log pretty fast

Amongst the technology a good point made on the trucker opinion its about the driver being human and being happy ! Can't come fast enough for the rest of us on the road !

Dillon, wouldn’t the emissions of the data center be dependent upon the fuel source of the electricity?

IMO Tesla should push hard to get the megawatt charger standardized around the world

Ford had production capability for 300, 000 Lightnings. But the demand and sales are not there.
