I can't believe more people aren't talking about this meter, especially at this price point. Thanks for the detailed review. It put one on my bench.

Great review .. I originally bought the 8803E due to the big display and a few other bells and whistles but after seeing your video I returned it and bought this model . So far I'm very happy with it .. Thanks

Just found your great review on this meter today and now I am so tempted to put this one on my bench. It's now sold on Aliexpress for over $600!! Just wanted to confirm those that did purchase this unit are still happy with their investment, it'll help me make a decision. Amazon has it for around $300 at the moment.

Thank you for the review, I’ve been looking at this exact DMM for my bench, now I feel confident to make a purchase.
Update: It took a while to arrive with all the shipping delays, but it’s now at home on my bench. I really like this meter, easy to read with the oled white on black, good accuracy, and I prefer the rotary dial instead of function keys. Thanks for your video, it helped me a lot.

Very well done and informative, this has helped me to decide on the bench meter I want for work. This on seems like it has a good balance of options to value. Will not replace my Fluke 289 for “on the floor” troubleshooting, but it will be nice to have an “always on/ready” meter for extended bench top troubleshooting

Liked the video. I used a handheld Fluke when I worked as a mechanic because you're working under the hood or have your head under a dashboard. When I started building circuits on the bench using a breadboard I bought an inexpensive but ok quality hand held to use on the desktop. But the display is not very bright it has no bar meter the range symbols are tiny and hard to read. Plus you have to stand it up using the bail and then it takes up space on the bench and tends to move around or fall over even when just pushing the buttons. So an inexpensive desktop model like this solves all those problems. You can put it up on a shelf to get it out of the way. It has a nice easy to read display. It has a bar display on the bottom. No more problems with it moving around or falling over. And it's a great way to try out a fairly accurate meter and see if need the extra accuracy of a more expensive meter without spending a lot on your first meter.

The comp mode is useful in product testing and setup. For a line worker testing a product or setting a pot, putting in the max and min feature and turning on the beep lets the test tech or a less technical person, quickly make sure a product meets specs. For an engineering workbench, this is only modestly useful, but for production work it is very valuable.
We use to use a grease pencil to draw parallel lines on an oscilloscope and had the techs twist the knobs till the line fit within the grease pencil lines. This is the same sort of thing. Nice for an inexpensive meter.

Looks like a great DMM. You never did a tear down as promised, but I guess you don't want to take any risks with this nice piece of equipment. I personally go for another UNI-T DMM in almost the same production range, namely the UT8803E. This model also has an extra inductance measurement capacity, making it an ideal all-round instrument. Sadly I could not find any reviews on that one, but if it resembles the UT8804N just a tiny bit quality-wise (yeah - I know the UT8803E is cheaper so I don't expect too much) I think I can take the risk.
Anyway - Good review. Very informative.

Hi Sui778,
Thanks for the review, you helped me decide to buy the 8804 multimeter. I am very satisfied with how it works and I think it behaves better when measuring the capacity as well as the diode test beep at a voltage drop of 0.5 -0.8V than the much more expensive model 8005. To be honest I kind of prefer the rotary switch selector it's always where it should be. I have a question for you, it happens that when I turn the rotary switch and select the diode test, a very short beep sound is heard and sometimes it is not heard. I really can't explain this. Have you noticed this happening to you too or is it just my multimeter? I also see that there is a problem with (mS) on the Hz range, the frequency measurement shows twice less (mS) even the duty cycle is often inaccurate and if it is in the manual they say that it can be a problem, but apparently everything should be fine up to 200Khz. One more question, tell me, does it also happen to you when the (Hz) range picks up 50 - 60Hz and shows on the display when the probes are plugged into it, or does it show you zeros? Everything else really works perfectly on this multimeter. Thank you again and keep up the good work.

Best regards

What would you recommend today for a solid bench DMM? This one looks great and I see it’s still on your bench 6 months later.

Great video. It would be good to have a best available calibration of reference values (resistance, voltage etc.) and a table of % error of meter. Even better would be a table to compare the various units that you have reviewed. Thanks.
