Best Apps for Android Smartphone November (2017).
Top 7 best apps for Galaxy S8/Note 8/S8 Plus
Button Mapper
Basically, I could add more utility to the buttons on my device including the capacitve touch keys like back, home and recent apps. A double tap to volume up can light up the torch and a long press could take a screenshot. While double tapping volume down takes me to my most used whatsapp group and long press takes me back to my last used app which is a great utility to switch between 2 apps.
The app is called button mapper and using this you can remap the volume rocker as well as the capacitive home, back and recent apps if you have that on your phone. I’m using the Galaxy Note 8 which does not have that option but if you had a phone with capacitive keys - you can remap those as well like here in the Galaxy S6 edge.
Air console - Game console
The next one is Air Console which essentially converts your smartphone into a handheld game controller. It’s pretty easy to set up as long as you have a fast internet connection and a good wi-fi setup on which your devices are hooked. AirConsole is the new way to play with together with friends. No need to buy anything. Use any computer and smartphones! AirConsole is fun, free and fast to get started. Download now!
The game selection is quite extensive and categorized as games for single players, player vs. player or even cooperative games where 4 friends can play together and have quite a bit of fun as long as all of you have smartphones with airconsole.
The games are simple, fun and addictive and I think that’s what makes it really easy to just get on to. So go ahead and give it a try.
EDGE MASK - edge lighting & rounded corners of S8
This app gives your phone a beautiful edge lighting for various app notifications. Its really cool and makes your notifications look gorgeous. And you can really just see that for yourself.
Just open the app and enable the settings after providing the necessary permissions. You can have edge lighting activated for some or all of your app notifications and even give it your very own color while setting up. So you could give whatsapp either a green or a combination of green and blue to make it a little more interesting. And you can do this for all the apps that you have installed on your smartphone.
Portra - stunning art filter
A fairly simple app that lets you change any image into a nice art piece in pastel colors. It does remind me a bit of an older app called Prisma which added artful prismatic effects to your images - but this one feels more candid, natural and different at the same time. Something that is unique and I think can do its own round of social media highlights for now. Try it out.
Battery Meter Overlay
A little trick to always have your battery show up in a slightly more unconventional and hence unique way.
Another Widget
The second last is Another Widget which basically gives you the same widget that the Pixel 2 has introduced on its homescreen. The widget neatly displays the next meeting or event that you have on your list, the weather in your current location and today’s date and day.
At first I thought it was a stupid thing to have on your homescreen, but I realized how useful this is once I started using it.
The widget is ready to use but you can make some customization if the need be. You can change the color of the text, and choose to sync your choice of calendar. You can decide how far ahead in the future you want your event to show up.
Launch Board
Essentially one of the most convenient and fastest ways to open an app especially if you have a lot of apps on your phone and constantly use a wide mix of apps frequently. It’s stupid easy to use - just keep the icon somewhere easily accessible and tap on it to launch the keyboard.
