Many products will require you to install a specific driver to connect a device to a computer and in this video, we'll cover all the ins and outs on getting yourself and your gear ready to create, record, produce and mix your own music. In this easy step-by-step guide, we'll cover everything you need to know about recording audio and MIDI and then show you how to route your inputs and outputs correctly. Towards the end of the video we'll look at how to set up a MIDI controller keyboard and assign Cubase functions to the various controls you might have on your MIDI device. After this video, you are ready to get your hands dirty.

Thanks for posting this Tutorial. I'm going to stick with these tutorials (cause there are a LOT out here). Dhow I paused the tutorial a few times, I just can't seem to verify my setup. I'm simply missing some options. For example, I don't seem to have any input-device connected but my Yamaha Moxf plays like a charm. I don't know how I got it to communicate but (for me personally) the complexity is reason not to change anything. I'm sure It's simple when you're familiar with all the terms but most tutorials take this knowledge for granted making me giving up unlocking "the mystery" of Midi and the meaning of all the "new" terms used.
Thanks in advance for your quick reply ;-)

If I connect my MIDI keyboard controller directly to the computer using a USB cable, and then separately connect my audio interface to another USB port on the computer, will both devices work together in the DAW? Or do I need more cables between the keyboard and interface for this to work? Thanks!

Now I still don't know how I can plug an AB USB into the interface and then the interface into the computer. In fact there is only one USB B port... Care to explain

Thanks, for the video! So, I have a Yamaha MG16XU, but when I select the VST audio system (Yamaha Steinberg USB Asio) it only shows two physical ports (Line 1, Line 2) instead of the 16 that should appear. Do you know what I can do to solve that problem?

I'm trying to record my vocals over an instrumental track. I have 2 tracks, one from a instrumental i imported and one for vocals.

When i hit record on my vocal track, the instrumental is automatically getting recorded under my vocal track, as well as my vocal. Am using cubase 13 i tried to record in fl studio and i faced the same problem am using Steinberg Ur22mkii audio interface.

Why is this happening? Any help would be awesome!

Thanks

Yeah, you are talking so fast and you figure we know what the heck you're talking about. Come on, get real. Show us what you are plugging into what, what interfaces you need, etc. Seems like this is the way all of these info videos are done. Fast, fast, fast. Not useful at all to me.

My Steinberg interface no longer shows up in the options. What should I do? Works perfectly on logic. Just stopped showing up as an option

Hello, why the metronome sound also included when I record an audio? I already set the metronome in the transport menu, , but the metronome sound is still recorded in the audio

Nice! Is some info I need to know. When open in Cubase pro on Windows and you are at 32 samples using the ur22c to low latencies and set some vst plugins on channels, lets say open 3x nexus 2.0 and one Kontakt 6 library simultaneously and try the sounds with your midi keyboard then do you experiencing any cracklings and pops of the sound during playback or trying recording?

For me the USB audio connection is recognized by the computer and the MIDI Port Setup section but does not show up in the Audio Connections window as an Audio Device, I'm not sure how to fix this, there are no drivers for the keyboard available to download from the manufacturer's website
