This theme perfectly describes black beard. The harmonica at the beginning characterizes the first impression of Teach - he is a funny and simple pirate. But the further the music goes, the more it reveals Teach as a terrible criminal and murderer who will stop at nothing following his goal. This character trait is characterized by trumpets, which also speak about the bulkiness and danger of blackbeard.

Blackbeard is the most complex anime character I've ever seen. Most of the time, in depth characters can be dissected and have their intentions understood completely. Blackbeard? Not so much. He's prideful and not prideful at the same time. He someone to respect and someone to look at in disgust. It's almost as if he has no principles and his principles are in pure chaos. He has no set morals since they are constantly changing to whatever he desires at that moment. He is a man of indulgence. He basically represents human sin. Blackbeard's persona is a true pirate; they take whatever they like and run away from whatever scares them. This is probably the first kind of character that is like this. Oda is a genius, I love it.

He's not only clever and cunning, he also learns.
he used to be reckless and commit to fights, after whitebeard told him his only mistake was being reckless, Teach stopped taking unnecessary risks
-Can still fight and bring even more chaos and destruction at Marineford with the Marines and Shanks, decides to call it quits as he got what he wanted.
-Could have killed Hancock and dealt with Rayleigh afterwards (by his own words, rayleigh admits he cannnot defeat current Teach), decided to call it quits as there was nothing to gain from the fight
-instead of going to wano and fight an entire army for the poneglyphs, he waits in one of the routes to just ambush whoever shows up.
People may call him a coward but its just being smart, theres no reason to risk your grand plan for no rewards.

I'm glad that a major villian is not a pretty dude but a ugly fat guy. But still, he is cunning and has ambition. Joining the WB Pirates was giving him the highest chance of getting his dream Devilfruit. Even if he had to kill a crewmember for it.

I doubt he did it without feeling guilty about it. I mean, he told Ace, that he had no other choice. That might be an excuse for it, but thats what he need to tell himself. Afterall, he was a member of the WB crew for YEARS! There is no way he wouldn't have gotten close to anyone.

Besides, he is pretty much the only true pirate in One Piece by now! Cause Luffy isn't a real pirate.
