|| PANCHAR SENAYA ||
Panchar Senaya means 'Reflection' in Iban language. “I composed this song on the Sape’ as a dedication to my two children. Motherhood has truly changed me. In the song I express the newly felt emotions of love, pride and hope. It captures the bittersweet joy of watching them grow - celebrating their journey and the ache of knowing they'll one day chart their own path. Like gazing into still water, where every ripple reflects a shared moment, a lesson given or a memory treasured. The song reflects the strength of love, always supporting and guiding them, encouraging resilience and inspiring inner peace. Forever their protector, always their biggest admirer,” shares Munirih, who became a mother in 2020.
The video features her husband, Fredolin Anson and their two boys, Evan Kai and Eden Kai as well as flutist Encik Mohar Mohram.
Munirih Jebeni, a Sea Dayak woman born and raised in Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia, is a professional dancer, choreographer, Sape' instrumentalist and fire-breather. She has been actively performing as a Sape' player since 2016, participating in local and international events and festivals, sharing the beautiful sounds of Borneo with the world.
