Sky News Australia host Piers Morgan says the death of Her Majesty the Queen is an "unbelievable shock," and her passing is a "huge loss to the country".

"It is an unbelievable shock – not just to the system of individuals here in the UK but I think to the psyche of the country," Mr Morgan told Sky News Australia.

Queen Elizabeth II, Britain’s longest-serving monarch, has died at the age of 96.

"She was a unique monarch, a unique person," Mr Morgan said.

"It's a huge loss to the country".

Pier Morgan is a very controversial figure, but my goodness, he is spot on about so many things. He is so articulate and spoke for many of us, in his admiration for the Queen.

I’m an American, I feel like the last person who had influence with a moral compass, sense of duty, and loyalty beyond belief is gone. I loved her

I've Never been a Piers Morgan Fan, something about him just irritates the shit out of me - but he's just gone up several notches in my book because of this little interview. Respectfully, tastefully and tactfully done. Good Job mate.

As a New Zealander I had the deepest respect for Her Majesty and her sense of duty. She was the glue that held Britain and the Commonwealth together. She will be sorely missed.

I'm American, and I was surprisingly sad to hear of the Queen's passing. Condolences to the royal family and to Great Britain for the loss of this timeless, strong, and elegant woman.

I'm age 66. She has been queen longer than I've been alive. Living 96 years is an accomplishment.

Even though it was inevitable, the Queen’s passing hits all of us hard. She has to be the epitome of class. Rest In Peace, your Majesty. The world mourns with the British today.

I agree with Piers that every Brit today has only known one queen their entire life. I'm a 50-year-old Brit and I still can't stomach it that she's gone. She was Queen for 20 years before I was born. She's been the only queen my entire life and now I just feel like the world I knew is officially dead. RIP your majesty. You will be solely missed.

Strange emotional state I find myself in. I’ll miss a woman I never met, but has been the monarch of my country my entire life. God speed Elizabeth you are and will always be admired and missed.

I was 4 when she had her coronation. I'm an American of British roots and I cried for hours. I, too, will be in mourning with the people of the U.K. Long live the King.

The "we will meet again" speech she did was the greatest.

I'm a 51 year old 🇨🇦 who has only ever known the Queen as our Monarch then Head of State. I sang God save the Queen as a child growing up.. I'm very saddened that she's passed but I hope it was peaceful and without pain. May she rest well 💜

I was so proud when she broke tradition after 9-11 and played the American national anthem. She had so much class.

Well said Pierce. I too believe she went downhill physically after the passing of her husband. It was sad to see her sit all alone as she mourned her husband. Even to the last 2 days of her life when she smiled, she lit up the room. RIP Queen Elisabeth as you will be with your rock again. Job well done.
