I have been waiting 10 months for UIF.
like many others have pointed out - calling the call center is useless.
You have to actually go sit in the queue at the labour center for up to 5 hours to get to the front for them to tell you first off
wait 7-15 working days then you go back and they still don't know what's happening.
Then you go back and their next excuse is that there's a "backlog" - no shit.
Then its escalation upon escalation.

Then after 6 months my application was finally approved - BUT by then my "3 month old" certified documents had lapsed and so i needed to submit new docs.
NOW because its been over 7 months and the total value owed to me exceeds R25000, i have to go through a DIFFERENT manual process whereby i have to get bank statements from 3 months BEFORE unemployment - so i pay for those statements out of pocket - then after submitting those, i have been waiting another month.

i went back a few days ago and i am told "it is being processed" "you'll have your money by next week"

i have visited those buildings 10 times - ive spent over 50 hours wasted in a queue.
I dont blame anyone who decides not to even try go down routes of government assistance.

I'm glad y'all discussinh this, it's really really bad, while on maternity leave you literally have to see your own way out, cause if you lucky it only comes when you return to work... It's frustrating, disrespectful, disgrace. 💔

Although this sounds funny, let me tell you the anxiety and anguish one goes through to claim UIF. It is painful!😢 If you want to prank someone, knock at the door of the Labour Department!! 😬

Only spoke to the government agencies on 2 occasions. Once when I worked at another government agency and needed to call the WCC. I would do that & just hold on forever. One Friday afternoon a lady called April answered. Nearly fell off my chair I had such a fright. The other time was when I had Covid...someone from the Health Department called me, on my cell phone, to let me know that my preiod of isolation would end the following day. I was beyond astonished.

Waiting 2 years 2 months for my UIF. When you call the call centre, they tell you it's being escalated.

After months of getting nowhere prior to having to move across the Country ( But in having been rewarded with at least 5 Reference Numbers by 3 different * Agents * within EKSDOM ); I eventually had to laff-off R 12 K that HAD to be paid to allow for the sale of my house to go through; being the direct result of an ADMITTED in-house clerical Billing error that was blatantly obvious; evidenced in print from one month to the next. An excellent prank; but I totally identify and sympathise with the now post-pregnant Woman. Know that I believe that instructions have been given out and that stone-walling is INTENTIONAL to avoid any form of payout as there are limited budget-funds in all Departments following State-capture / Corruption / Looting etc ... Simply; you have little or no chance of rightful claim pay-out or reimbursement ...😡
