As a welder who burnt a hole through his ear drum, I don’t strike an arc without ear plugs in any position anymore, bag is pretty calloused now from sparks, should also look into a leather cod piece but the bag sweat would be to intense

the reason to wear ear protection would be to avoid the risk of having a super heated bit of metal sparking of and going down your ear drumbs bursting them and deffening you for life on that ear.

Brother wrap your corners and turn your heat down on the long seams unless you have a pedal then back off consitancy is shakey but otherwise pretty nice focus on feeding the same amount of wire every time (i know thats hard but it helps the bead look more uniform)

Looks pretty good to me. Bout to get my first tig today but won't have gas for a little while so for now itll be ornamental (it is a combo though so i can still learn to stick weld. Also its a lift tig, would prefer a foot pedal and learn like that but oh well, maybe the next machine will be more expensive)
