Vince Carter overcome with emotion as he reminisces on career with Raptors

Vince Carter attended an MLSE Foundation event on Friday at the renovated Vince Carter Court at a park in Toronto. The former Raptor was introduced by president Masai Ujiri and fought back tears when talking about his career and discussing how special the honour is.

I despised VC when he left, but was his biggest fan when he played. In the late 90s everyone in school new Vince Carter. Even people who didn't watch basketball.

But in the grander scheme of things, his impact on basketball in southern Ontario and Canada can't be understated. Deserves the number retirement and I think most fans forgave him years ago.

It's about time. His exit from Toronto was 50% the fault of the management at the time, and 50% his immaturity & unprofessionalism. He would have been here his whole career if he had upper management who knew wtf they were doing.

Vince was electric, and I became a true nba fan because of him. After the trade, I don’t think I was mad at Vince. I was furious at Babcock. For those who think Kyle should be retired first, I am not fussed. Kyle is still playing, and Vince came first! The way Vince played, the way he dunked with power and finesse. I don’t know if I will ever see that again!
