Thanks for watching!! In this video I’m forging a viking/Dane axe using the wrapped eye technique. The body and eye of the axe is forged from an old blacksmiths drift made from 1045 tool steel, and the bit is 5160 spring steel. The handle was made from an hickory wheel barrel handle.

a break down of you explaining what you are doing in each shot (i.e setting bevels, welding the bar that will make the cutting edge, etc) would be awesome to watch.

It's such a delight to see someone properly hardening something without shaking it as if that's the only thing keeping you alive.

I like that you left it rough. Doesn’t make sense when it’s super polished

I have a request, it fits in mildly with what is trending as it relates to Tolkien but it's also unique and has not been done before. Talions dagger from Shadow of Mordor/ shadow of war

I was talking to you on Tic Toc the other day about a cane axe. It would be identical to this but a flat top and a lot smaller so u can use the axe head as a handle. This is great work. Wish I could do this.

Very beautiful rustic Viking long axes 🪓 it’s lovely to see this form of axe making is still a trade

The borax helps keep forge scalp from forming and causing a delamination correct? (I've only ever forged a throwing know from a railroad spike heated in a soup can insulated with plaster of Paris with two holes drilled through for blow torches)

This head shape doesn’t appear to be on the Petersen typology, where does it come from?
