lol a "thicker" pick is like 2 mil. 11 mil is not "thicker" that is the thickest. great lesson man

I love to see someone else’s exploration of 4 nps shapes. I personally picked it up from mandolin fingerings; I have grown accustomed to the stretches and pivot my thumb akin to an upright bass player.

My Jazz 3 (1.38mm) never bends when I alt pick... yet you're out here with an 11mm pick, lmao. I gotta say you do make it work though.

I was just goofing around and I stumbled upon doing this. I like how you can ascend the neck more quickly.

11mm pick is like the size of the gap between the strings!!!! Damn!

I wonder if there's a moment when thicker pick actually slows you down because of it's higher mass and thickness, it may become more difficult to control. Just guessing. Great video !

Great lesson -- question, does anyone actually play these types of runs using ALL four fingers? And by anyone I mean even guitar greats like Gilbert and Malmsteen?
Malmsteen always does a harmonic minor scalic run which is usually 4 notes per string, 3 notes per string, 4 notes, 3 notes, and so on...Always wondered how he did it, if he shifts like you or if he actually plays with all four fingers.
Using all 4 is difficult out of the gate but I bet if one practiced it for awhile it would come natural.

So if you go back down the scale, are you position shifting with your index finger, or do you still shift with your pinky?

Hi, just a little constructive criticism, your playing and teaching is wonderful, but I find that the way you're recording causes the acoustic sound of your strings to be a bit loud at times, and your amped guitar sound kind of sounds distant at times. I understand that you are recording your voice and guitar so it may be difficult to get the levels right. Overall very well done though.

is there a reason you're using that pick, man?

Does it force you play a certain way that helps you get better or something?

I’v been doing that for years, only I slide/change position with my 1st or 2nd finger. Maybe I should practice it with my 4th finger too……

Another question -- how about descending 4 note per string runs -- do you also use your pinky and shift with that? Or do you shift with your pointer finger instead?
