Prodigal Son: Not about a Backsliding Christian

The Parable of The Prodigal Son is a very popular parable Jesus tells. But it's not about a backsliding Christian. Though Christians that feel backslidden need to understand the picture Jesus is painting, this is a core issue for Jesus's ministry which is why He tells the story in first place. Let's dive in to God's Word do a little bible study with me and see this story through the eyes of Jesus.

Hey brother I just started watching your videos and it so blessing for my soul, I’m in a spiritual warfare battle, the enemy always put dirty thoughts and emotional, always questions my believe in Christ but when I was in the world I never had this battle but yet I was a believer. I’m just finding this video 🙏 I was hoping you could help me understand something about my salvation. I was once born again when I was 19 but fell away into unbelief and eventually into false new age doctrines. I remained that way for many many years but now want to come back to Jesus. I don’t know if I could be considered a prodigal daughter because I was gone so long and rejected the faith or am I an apostate according to Hebrews 6. I really need help understanding this because i love Jesus and want to be with him eternally. I made a terrible decision when I fell away from the faith 😢 thank you and God Bless

"Not about a backsliding Christian"....and yet about 99% of it's contemporary reading and application presents this very interpretation. So...it's either a tremendously futile miscommunication which everyday people should be forgiven for getting "wrong" or it's a message with deeper gnostic insight woven into it....in which case, 99% of those who are reading it (at it's face-value)...are basically reading something "coded" that wasn't really meant for them.

You see, this is the problem with "deeper" interpretations and understandings. It's cool when somebody comes along and acts like a spirit-driven the mental gymnastics one is often required to do in order to get that (often) square peg into it's (often) round hole doesn't really represent the parable's author in a favourable light.

"Let your yes mean yes and your no mean no....anything which deviates from this is from the devil..."

Seemingly, it's absolutely fine however....to construct nebulous, enigmatic parables wherein the "true" meaning is buried, obscured or only makes sense to those with either the patience, knowledge or "reverence" required.

Namely....about 1% of the people who read it.
