No, the Spear is Not the 'King of Weapons'.

It's by far the most common on historical battlefields across the globe, and obviously highly effective. But does the spear really deserve the title "King of Weapons"? Is it perhaps a little overhyped now, in sort of an over-correction from when it was underrated and overshadowed by swords?

People misuse this phrase so much & by the way the spear was usurped as the king of the battlefield by artillery.
Hence the term ''artillery is king''

I never really appreciated spears and polearms in my youth as I do now. After reading through Romance of the three kingdoms and watching both the 1994 and 2010 series, including Red Cliff, I have grown fond of spears and polearms.

A weapon's job isn't to defeat or suppress other weapons. A weapon's job is to defeat or suppress other people. Like a king does. Hence why the spear is king. Not just any king but a King of kings.

Scoff at it all you want, but every king needs a spear or many, and any king without, will not be king for very long.
