This video has been made for those who are interested in getting familiar with both theoretical and procedural aspects of the criminal law in India. Recently, a bench of Hon'ble Justices D.Y. Chandrachud and B.V. Nagarathna delivered a detailed judgment in the case of Narayan Sai. By utilising the judgment rendered in that case, I have attempted to explain the concepts of parole, furlough, and that of remission granted under Section 432 of CrPC.

The concept of furlough is seriously new for me. Heard 1st time. Thank you for the information

Undoubtedly a good one for gaining knowledge on the concepts dealt under, but the portion of the video speaking of "1 Yr and 2 weeks in jail" in relation to furlough, is a bit confusing. I think in relation to furlough, if the convict has been imposed with 5 yrs imprisonment, and he was set free on furlough for, say, 2 weeks, now he need not spend 5 yrs in jail in totality, rather a period of 5yrs less 2 weeks in totality, as the period under furlough is to be remitted from the total period of imprisonment imposed on the convict. Please clarify.

Late Chief Justice Y.V. Chandrachud unfortunately passed away in the year 2008 thereby making it a tad bit difficult for him to pass a judgement in 2021. The judgement was authored by Hon'ble Justice DY Chandrachud.
