SPEAKER: Ms Hilary Reininger - doctoral candidate and public policy pardee at RAND Graduate School. Hilary Reininger is a doctoral candidate studying policy analysis at the Pardee RAND Graduate School in Santa Monica, California. Her research focuses on policy options that defend users against the effects of disinformation on social media. She concentrates on the targets of disinformation attacks by focusing on methods that help social media users discern, avoid, and resist false information. While at RAND, Reininger has also conducted research on organizational management of government cybersecurity agencies, researched Russian disinformation tactics in Europe, studied media literacy programs through RAND’s Truth Decay initiative, and helped compile an open-source, online database of disinformation tools (Fighting Disinformation Online: a database of web tools).
