Oh my. I have had units at Devon for decades, long before it was Devon. If rats don't chew through Rubbermaid storage containers, I should be in good shape since that is how my important papers and more valuable items are stored.

Ages ago, before it was Devon, management was sleeping on the job, and something like 7 units were burgled, including mine, and that was devastating to me and the other victims. At that time, there were no cameras near the units, so criminals had an easy time ripping us off.

Hopefully, the rats don't like anything in my unit. The Coelho family will hopefully consult with an attorney because I am nearly certain that they have legal recourse, no matter what they signed! At the very least, they might have a cause of action against the idiots who allegedly stored food in a nearby unit.

This is so unfortunate and I'm so sorry for this couple. Locally, Extra Space Storage in Bermuda Dunes is safe, climate controlled and clean. However, Google other ways to safe guard your storage item such as lining the unit with Peppermint oil and using sturdy Rubbermaid type storage boxes to deter rodents.
