I just noticed that what she was talking about wasn't just dying while sleeping or a nightmare, it's specifically smothering someone while they sleep. Being unable to breathe (suffocation) and grabbing hold of anything near him tightly (struggling) before acknowledging you're about to die and being scared of it.
